Young Art

The YOUNG ART program allows young people aged 12 to 21 to explore the behind-the-scenes of an upcoming artistic project, gain new perspectives, and participate in an international art biennale. It is designed for individuals in this age group and provides valuable hands-on experience.

YOUNG ART provides diverse experiences that give deep insights into how art is created and displayed, from engaging directly with artists and curators to visiting biennale sites, museums, and studios. Participants are encouraged to share their ideas, creativity, and curiosity. They will collaborate with guest artists to produce and showcase artwork publicly during the Biennale. The Werenzhain studio farm in the Elbe-Elster district will serve as the project's central hub. It will be the starting point, with plans to expand later into the partner districts and Cottbus.

Who is invited?

During transition phases, we invite interested young people to participate, especially schoolchildren, women, trainees, and individuals with migration or refugee backgrounds. Registration can be completed through public schools, youth centers, art schools, or our website.

Timeline

The project will start with an introductory phase in September and October 2025, exploring different art forms. Additional workshop weekends and two holiday art camps will offer hands-on activities to help participants improve their techniques. Plans also include group visits to museums and attending dance performances.

Planned Activities

• Eight workshop weekends
• Two six-day art camps
• Two performances.
• One two-week exhibition

Wednesday afternoons are optionally designated for artistic practice in the open studio. Attendance at workshops is generally expected, but there is flexibility. Individual agreements will specify the minimum number of workshop days to be attended.
